Your path to self sufficiency

LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas)

This could be the first step all car owners could take to save money on fuel and help the environment. LPG refuelling is fast becoming popular a popular choice with refuelling pumps appearing at many major petrol stations.

Liquid Petroleum Gas is a mixture of Propane and Butane gases. When these gases are put under pressure they become a liquid which allows a greater quantity to be stored. When the pressure is slightly released the liquid becomes a gas again and can be easily burned.
LPG gases are by products when crude oil is refined. Rather than being disposed by flaring off, they are now being utilised as a car fuel.
LPG is clean burning and causes less stress on the engine. When in gaseous form it mixes easily with air meaning it is efficiently burned within the engine.
LPG produces far less carbon dioxide as a by product than Petrol but requires a modified engine and a separate storage tank, often located in the boot.

Benefits:

  • Congestion Charge exemption
  • Around 50% cheaper per litre than petrol
  • Old cars can be converted
  • Reduced carbon emissions compared to Petrol and Diesel
  • Car is run as normal, controls are the same
  • Recycles an otherwise wasted resource.
  • Re-fuelling points can be found in increasing numbers of petrol stations nationwide.
