Tips:
Walk: To save fuel walk to your local shops rather than drive.

Plan ahead: Plan your journey so you can avoid congestion hotspots.
Car share: Take your friends or neighbours to town one day and they can drive you the next. Depending on how many different cars are used in the car share group, you can dramatically reduce your own fuel costs.
Tyre pressure: Take a look at your car manual and maintain tyre pressure to save on fuel.
Weight: Remove unnecessary weight such as foldable chairs, rubbish, tool boxes and all other items that do not come as standard with the car. Importantly remember to use common sense and keep the spare wheel and jack.
Air con: Avoid using air conditioning as it can be a large drain on fuel.
Road surface: Use newly surfaced or well maintained roads to lessen wear and tear on tyres and to reduce fuel consumption.
Do not brake or accelerate sharply: When approaching a queue or junction, take your foot of the accelerator early and allow the cars natural momentum to slowly diminish. When accelerating, move of at a steady pace, not slowly or too fast. Get in to a high gear as soon as possible. 5th gear being the most fuel efficient especially over 40 mph.
Drive at 70 not 80: By reducing your speed you will reduce your fuel costs and be safer.
No Idling: In traffic jams and at railway crossings, turn of your vehicle if you are likely to be sitting for more than 3 minutes.
