About Us
This site has been built and designed by two young-ish gentlemen with a healthy interest in self-sufficiency, saving money, and freeing ourselves from the daily grind of supermarket profit margins and monthly bills. Although we are both a long way from self-sufficiency nirvana, we do what we can in our circumstances and always keep an eye out for where we can improve!
Benjamin Crosby is a qualified and experienced horticulturalist and founder of poultryshop and Britannic rare breeds. Ben has a keen interest in traditional British livestock breeds and wishes to promote the most suitable ones for modern self sufficient living. He also has knowledge of traditional crafts, propagation, fruit training and maintenance and general horticulture and will attempt to promote these skills and make them easy to interprete for modern living. Ben will be contributing the lion's share of articles here at homesufficiency and is looking forward to imparting and sharing his knowledge and experiences to help you become a little more self sufficient.
Alex Bull has the technical know-how to get the website gears crunching, with in-depth experience in web design and construction and a knowledge of database creation and management he is the man for the job. Being a car fan, he also has a strong interest in economising ways of future travel. An interest in money-saving DIY has also recently surfaced so he will contribute the odd article and will put together the various Calculators we have planned for the site. New to the joys of gardening, Alex has become a keen gardener and enthusiastically supports the promotion of self sufficiency skills.
